It’s that time of year where you spend your weekends inside a new series or movie because it’s too cold to go outside. For those who want to learn more about the environment then you’re just in luck. Netflix and many other streaming services offer great environmental documentaries and series that are led by scientists, marine biologists, and environmentalists. This is the perfect list to introduce you to our planet a little more and all of the animals you never knew about.

Our Planet

This documentary shows viewers how climate change has affected our planet Earth. It contains all real footage of living creatures and real places. You’ll end this documentary with a different view of the world as we as humans have a bigger impact on the environment than we think.

Night On Earth

The newly released series is narrated by actress and producer Samira Wiley. Night of Earth gives viewers a look at how animals live during the night. From elephants to monkeys this documentary will give you all of the details and behind-the-scenes footage. If you’re an animal lover then this would be the perfect watch for you.

Chasing Coral

Scientists, divers, and photographers from all over the world come together to document the disappearance of coral reefs. This film was presented at the Sundance Film Festiva l in 2017 before being put onto streaming services. Watch as these professionals set out on an adventure to save coral reefs.

Sylvia Earle is a well-known oceanographer, environmentalist, and marine biologist. Mission Blue followed her work and life long mission to save the ocean. This inspiration piece will have you clean up the ocean in no time.

If you enjoy big cats but didn’t appreciate how little they were talked about in the Tiger King documentary, this one can fill that void. How To Change The World

In 1971 a small group of activists set sail from Vancouver, Canada in a boat with a mission to stop Nixon’s atomic test bomb in Amchitka, Alaska. This documentary follows these events that lead to the worldwide green movement that then lead to the creation of Greenpeace .
